Our Mission
Handcrafted
Each item is carefully crafted by hand. The making process allows for a single or many of an item to be created. Handcrafting is not assembly line construction, however, so no two items will be identical. The result is a uniquely bespoke and beautiful accessory for your home.
Hardwoods
We use only the finest quality hardwoods in our products. These are primarily made up of domestic species such as maple, walnut, and cherry. Exotic species such as purpleheart, padauk, cocobolo, and others are used as contrasting accents.
Food Safe
Ensuring food safety is a major consideration. First, only appropriate closed-grain wood species are used. Open-grain woods, as the name implies, has an open grain that provides an environment for food bacteria to grow. In addition to proper wood selection, finishing uses a 100% food safe combination of food-grade mineral oil and natural beeswax. The mineral oil hydrates the wood and aides in preventing drying and cracking while the beeswax helps to seal the surface. To maintain the integrity, these types of finishes need to be periodically reapplied. To help with that, suggested care instructions and a supply of GHW Board Butter is included with your purchase.
No Stains or Dyes
Here at Gates Hollow Woodworks we have a simple philosophy, let the wood speak for itself. No stains or dyes are used during our finishing process. Only clearcoat finishes are used to bring the wood to life and let the true natural beauty shine through.

Kitchen accessories are the centerpiece of GHW offerings. These products include different variations of cutting boards, charcuterie boards, cheese slicers, and serving trays. All of these items are ready for direct food contact and are finished using 100% food safe products.
For the Bar
Ready to let your hair down and enjoy your favorite libation? Well, we’ve got you covered. Our bar-themed accessories include bar-sized cutting boards, wine bottle displays, along with whiskey, beer, and wine flight trays. All accessories are protected with a waterproof finish such as spar urethane. These are perfect for your own bar or make excellent gifts. The whiskey, beer, and wine flight trays include the accompanying glasses.
Custom Engraving
Are you looking to add that unique custom touch? Perhaps add a personal touch to a gift or to treat yourself? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Our laser engraver and CNC router can be used to that unique personal touch to any of the accessories that we offer. The options are virtually endless, so let us know what you’re thinking and we’ll see what we can do.
